STITCHING THE TAPESTRY OF THE HIGHLANDS AND ISLANDS

This audio forms part of a series of audio interviews conducted in 2023 by Smartify as part of the Spirit of the Highlands and Islands project. Listen and discover the Spirit of the Highlands and Islands through the eyes of the stitchers of the Tapestry of the Highlands and Islands.

What is the lasting legacy of the Tapestry of the Highlands and Islands? Listen here to some thoughts from Laura (The Wyvis Stitchers), Alison, Jan, Jane, Janet and Sandra (The Strathspey Stitchers) as well as Anne, Diane, Jean, Matt and Mary (The Uist Strands Stitchers) on just what this legacy may be.

[Laura] It's a legacy piece isn't it? It'll be fantastic for your kids and grandchildren to go round and see your name beside it. Definitely going forward I'll be able to say 'I did that!'. And I'm enjoying it! I look forward to the next time I see the panel...as its unfurled, you have tears in your eyes. It's so amazing to see what everybody has done.
