This audio forms part of a series of audio interviews conducted in 2023 by Smartify as part of the Spirit of the Highlands and Islands project. Listen and discover the Spirit of the Highlands and Islands through the eyes of the stitchers of the Tapestry of the Highlands and Islands.

Join the Clava Clan stitchers, Melanie, of the Dam Stitchers, the Strathspey Stitchers, and Susan of the Oh Sew Mull Stitchers and learn about the different styles of embroidery, stitching techniques and the sheer stitcher craftsmanship which all brings the Tapestry of the Highlands and Islands to life.

[Susan] I think I've learned an awful lot from doing the work that I've done and I've noticed how much my style of embroidery has changed since the journey stone to the work that I've done more latterly. It's become freer, it's become more confident...I can see how I've taken inspiration from the other people I've met and from the other designs that I've seen groups working on and the things that have been shared over social media have really encouraged me to work on the technique and really develop it.
