Fun for all the family

Carn Liath Broch, just beside the A9, is a well-preserved broch – a type of ancient structure unique to Scotland and well worth a visit. There are also the remains of an associated village and earthworks alongside the broch allowing visitors to explore in the footsteps of ancient peoples.

The village has a selection of activities for all the family to choose from including its own golf course, bowling club, tennis courts and swimming pool and gym. There is even a local kart track where race meetings take place throughout the summer months. Shops and café’s line the streets as well as a good selection of accommodation with several hotels, B&B’s and self-catering options.

There are also lots of opportunities to explore the natural landscape of the area. Explore on bike with the Highland Wildcat mountain bike trails. Specifically designed for all levels of experience, from family and beginner routes to more challenging trails for experienced mountain bikers. The most difficult trail features the longest free ride descent in Britain down from the summit of Ben Bhraggie.

Visitors are also welcome to participate in Golspie Gala week which is held at the end of July each year. The programme includes events for all tastes such as golf competitions, the Ben Bhraggie hill race, fancy dress parade and massed pipe bands.

Just north of Golspie is the smaller village of Brora, with a heritage centre, shops and cafes, a golf course and a sandy beach.
