The Blanket Bog
The story of peat in the Highlands and Islands is tied to the struggle of communities for fuel and, most recently, climate change and biodiversity. Peat has been used for centuries as a source of fuel and for hundreds of years in one of the Highlands most famous commodities, whisky. However, with 13% of the world's blanket bog in Scotland, there is a great responsibility to restore peatlands and the carbon they contain. Discover the complex biodiverse landscape of the blanket bogs in this short documentary.
