Wild and Wonderful
The Ardnamurchan Stitchers came together from the surrounding area to create a homage to the wild and wonderful landscape of Ardnamurchan and Moidart.
This is their story.
The stitchers were inspired by the volcanic landscape of Ardnamurchan and local history which they stitched into the stones flowing across their panel. The stones represent what you can see, hear, touch and experience in the area - the wonderful wildlife, plants, trees and spots of interest.
Ardnamurchan is the most westerly point of the British mainland and is steeped in geological and cultural history being an important place with many connections to the sea and the land.
The rocky northern coast, bounded at the East and West by the beaches of Ardtoe and Sanna Bay, is designated as a National Scenic Area and is a beautiful space to enjoy the best of the great outdoors. Loch Sunart is also a favourite place depicted on the panel, the longest sea loch in the Highlands.
The other journey stones relate special places for us and what we appreciate about our area.
