Trigpoint View to Ben Wyvis - Cnoc Croit na Maoile/Ord Hill

By Diana Mackenzie

A homage to the beauty of Cnoc Croit na Maoile.

Cnoc Croit na Maoile/Ord Hill sits above Muir of Ord and is a very popular walk locally. The trig point on top has an unusual wooden seat fixed around it, allowing you to sit and view all directions - Inverness and Beauly and Cromarty Firths, the Cairngorms, Strathconon and the hills to the West, and to Ben Wyvis (the view at dusk of my journey stone). I have walked up the hill many, many times in all seasons and in all weathers. For many years our family walked up at Hogmanay to take in the bells and see all the fireworks going off around the district. If you get a chance to climb this hill, the views will not disappoint. I'd love to find a sponsor to put a hill marker/viewfinder pointing to and naming all the hills to be seen from the top.
