This audio forms part of a series of audio interviews conducted in 2023 by Smartify as part of the Spirit of the Highlands and Islands project. Listen and discover the Spirit of the Highlands and Islands through the eyes of the stitchers of the Tapestry of the Highlands and Islands.

Discover Nicky's poignant tapestry tribute to the life of Robin Pape. A farrier and crofter by trade but also a former chairman of the Highland Group of the Riding for the Disabled Association, Robin was a much loved member of the community and a dear friend who will be sorely missed.

...he was larger than life but he wasn't someone who was self-promoted. So, I think the subtlety of the fact that it's just his fabric, from his sheep, that would be nice. I think he'd enjoy that...we joked, and I knew that he had purchased a Harris loom some years ago and he kept saying to me 'one day when I'm retired you're gonna have to teach me to weave' so we'd already had these conversations. I think he'd be delighted.
