Land of the Brave
When the world is heavy on your shoulders, with no clarity in sight, Take a drive up Glen Nevis, in the evening light.
Glen Nevis, nestled in a quiet corner in my home town of Fort William. A lengthy stretch of private land that houses Ben Nevis, breath taking scenery and some of the most significant views you could wish to see.
The glen plays a vital part in the heritage of Fort William and wider Lochaber. Its falls and water holes bring families from far and wide to bask and frolic in the Scottish sun (...when we get it!)
Its forestry tracks, inviting hikers, runners and cyclists to immerse themselves in the local countryside. It's hills, in the eye and heart of every climber and it's hikes up to secret pockets of wonderous peace and tranquillity.
The Glen was used as a film set in the Hollywood films "Braveheart" and "Rob Roy" in the 1990's, where many of the locals were hired as extras. The surroundings of Glen Nevis captured the true essence and beauty of Scotland, which was shared with the world.
When the world is heavy on your shoulders, with no clarity in sight, Take a drive up Glen Nevis, in the evening light.
Nobody will bother you, only wildlife to see, think your thoughts, think them through, to gain peace and tranquillity.
That is the spirit of the Highlands of Scotland, the land of the brave.
