Affric Winter Walk Sculpture
'The Highlands is such a dramatic environment that can inspire and challenge in equal measure. A place that has offered creative opportunity when others have been closed to that possibility.’
The sculpture takes its initial inspiration from the Caledonian Pine trees highlighted in the text ‘Affric Winter Walk’. The tree has a direct influence on the work as I have made the piece entirely from the wood & cones that it provides. The pine cone texture acts as skin to cover the carved egg shaped core. The universally recognisable shape has its long established references and is used to inspire the viewer to bring their own personal narrative to the work.
