Meithle

The Cailleach is the season’s final sheath of grain to be harvest. She represents the spirit of the corn and the spirit of growth and vegetation

I’m inspired by old cultural practices, stories, lore and song that once accompanied old agricultural practices and foodways specific to the Highlands. In many ways the link between the two has been severed. I’m interested in finding ways to re-pair them and help revive small, place based cultures to agri-cultures.

If you dig where you stand these places are full of hidden stories. Whether in the history of the place, the names of the places, the old ways of being in within these places. As I’ve been uncovering layer after layer and attempting to dig a bit deeper I’m constantly surprised at what I didn’t know about my own doorstep.
